Do I need a new cd drive? Would a new hard drive and a new copy of windows? Either way if anyone I can't even connect it to the Internet because the wireless adapter drivers are on a cd. Had no issues with the CD drive prior to him stopping the use of the pc. He told me he used the guest account to play his games and whatnot with no problems and The administration account has a password lock on it that the previous user claims to have forgotten. Not possible at this time which is why I need the CD drive to work. And before you suggest the registry edit or using command prompt as an administrator, well that's The drive does not show up in "this computer" or in device manager. It is an ASUS, but when a CD is inserted (opens and closes fine like normal) IĬan hear the CD spinning and acting like it's going to do something, but nothing happens. However, the CD/DVD drive is not working. The computer itself turns on and seems to function as it should. I recently purchased a used desktop which is running windows 8.1.
